Work for a cause and not for the applause. Live to express and not to demonstrate.
— Ercos Blanka

Ercos Blanka, it's a pleasure to have a chat with you today and we are more than happy to have you join the Saisons family with the release of your Emani EP. It would be awesome to go over a few questions so people can get the chance to know you better.

Where are you at the moment?

Right now, I'm in my studio situated in Genivolta, a small town near Cremona, Italy.

What is the best thing that happened to you in 2020?

I'm very glad and happy that in this 2020 so difficult, a lot of people have chosen to listen to my tracks. I've reached an incredible number of streams this year and I'm honored to have been connected with so many people.

Your favourite song from the 90's ?

If I have to choose, Armand Van Helden - You don’t know me.

Your favourite season?

Autumn, because of its colors and the unique atmosphere. It's like nature prepares itself for a rebirth.

Your favourite spices?

I love all kinds of spices, especially black pepper and curry.

A place in nature you like to go.

Fortunately, I live in the countryside and I really love the fields and the woods of my area.

We invite the readers to listen to Ercos Blanka’s Emani EP below.

Emani and Bacheche are beautiful & emotional pieces. What are those songs representing for you?

Emani and Bacheche are two tracks I care a lot about. They represent a period of growth for me, both personally and musically. With this EP, I've tried to send a message of hope. I think that each one of us needs hope and to believe in something. And for me, these two tracks tell just that: believing in what makes you happy.

You have a very unique sonic signature in your music. We are super curious about your studio process. Can you tell us a bit more on your creative approach?

I usually start with ambiental recordings, for example, the sound of a car door, a garage opening, or a stone in a puddle. I have thousands of ambient recordings on my hard disk. I need this to create the "context", to give a "physical" location to the track. After that I create the melodies and the groove which are really important to me. And finally I work on the arrangement of all the elements to tell the story.

One advice you would give to newcomers in electronic music production.

The only advice I can give is: work for a cause and not for the applause. Live to express and not to demonstrate.

How are you creating / recording the soundscapes and textures in your music?

I use a RME optical digital converter and old RAM audio micro 16 mixer that has a very warm sound and excellent preamps, going through an old Mindprint tube stereo compressor to enhance the dynamic a little.

What are your passions outside of music?

I really like reading, I love motocross and I'm a supporter of Inter Football Club. Oh and I love videogames, I'm a big fan of Hideo Kojima, and I think it isn't necessary to explain why.

What is your favourite piece/decor/object in your studio and why?

In the studio, I've got old suitcases and an earth globe. I'm very fond of history and I really like to surround myself with old objects. They have an important meaning for me and they stimulate my creativity a lot. I think that knowing the methods of the past is very important; in every context, not just in the musical one. Before choosing, it is important to know the past in order to know where to go in the present looking to the future.

What's the future holding up for you? What can music lovers expect from Ercos Blanka in 2021?

I'm working on a new album, hopefully it will be out in about a year. I hope I can excite someone with what I do and that the global situation will be better. And of course, I hope Inter will win an European title.
