A Conversation with Manu - Creamfield EP
- Q: Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the EP "Creamfield"?
I drew a lot of inspiration from my trip to Tulum earlier this year, where I was invited by YokoO to play at his showcase right after my birthday. That experience really set the tone for this EP. For me, it represents a subtle kind of euphoria — carefree, present, and rooted in simply appreciating the moment as it unfolds.
- Q: How has the Montreal scene and your residency at Stereobar influenced the music you produce? Or are there other influences that shape your sound?
Stereobar taught me the power of creativity and underground energy. The space — with its closeness to the crowd and constant flow of top-tier artists — really shaped how I approach music. I’ve carried those lessons into experiences abroad, from the PIV showcase at After Caposile to Day Zero in Mexico, and even into the way I explore different gear, like the ARS mixer, to refine my sound.
- Q: *Tell us about some other passions you have outside of music. How do you balance these different worlds? *
I keep a busy schedule, so discipline is key. My days are built around my workout routine — health is always my top priority. Outside of music, I’m passionate about architectural photography. I love it because every environment offers new inspiration to capture. Both passions push me to challenge myself, much like working in nightlife does.
- Q: Tell us about a change of season, or transition you’ve experienced recently, and how it affected you.
September has always felt like a reset month for me: a time to refresh and refocus. Releasing the EP during that transition made it feel even more meaningful, like the perfect moment to turn the page and start a new chapter.
- Q: Quote that inspired you lately?
Funny enough, I coincidentally saw a quote that Satya Records shared recently: “Try to be better than yourself.”
- Q: What’s on the horizon for Manu?
You’re gonna have to follow me to find out! One thing’s for sure, there’s going to be a lot of music involved ;)
